Manitoulin Rocks with Birches

“Manitoulin Rocks with Birches” is a photographic and painted Art Quilt. Finished size: 44″ x 51.5″.

This quilt is my impression of the magic of Manitoulin Island, where I’ve explored some of the shoreline of Lake Huron, camera in hand, enjoying the quiet, the solitude, the ancient history back to when the glaciers made their imprint on the rocks.

I enlarged my digital photo, and it was printed on cotton fabric. The border symbolice the birches of that part of Ontario, and I painted it with Colour Vie pigments. After I cut up and pieced it back together, I quilted it using a long-arm machine.

“Manitoulin Rocks with Birches” was exhibited with Connections Fibre Artists at Gallery Stratford, Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
