Caught in a Whirlwind

‘Caught in a Whirlwind’ is a hand printed Art Quilt. Finished size 38.5″ x 34.5″.  It was exhibited at the National Juried Show of Quilt Canada.

The inspiration for most of my work comes from my experience with nature and its forces. This quilts was inspired by long, windy walks along the shores of Lake Ontario. I created the visual surface textures by painting and manipulating Colour Vie pigments on the cloth using found objects – in this case potato mashers. The leaves are printed with metallic pigments using real leaves. It is machine quilted with a sleeve on the back for hanging.
